Are people just stupid?

Here is my conclusion after watching an Oprah show today on scammers: People are stupid. The Nigerian scammers have it so easy, preying on these idiots. Who gets a letter in the mail and sends thousands of dollars off to a stranger? Or gets engaged online and sends off thousands of dollars? What is wrong with these people?
